Janakpur Leaders Unite to Strengthen Religious Harmony Following District Meeting

Community representatives, local authorities, and security officials pledge to work together to preserve peace and social unity across Dhanusha.

Janakpur, Nepal

Representatives from local government, security agencies, political parties, religious communities, journalists, and civil society gathered in Janakpur to discuss ways to strengthen social harmony following recent tensions reported in parts of the country. Participants agreed that maintaining peace requires cooperation between public institutions and local communities.

The meeting focused on preventing the spread of misinformation and encouraging residents to verify information before sharing it through social media or messaging platforms. Officials noted that false or misleading content can quickly increase tensions, making responsible communication essential during sensitive situations.

Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel said that government agencies, local representatives, and community organizations would continue working together to promote mutual understanding among people of different religions, ethnic groups, and cultural backgrounds. Participants also discussed improving communication between authorities and local communities to address concerns before they escalate.

During the discussion, leaders emphasized that Janakpur and the wider Dhanusha district have a long tradition of cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence. They encouraged citizens to reject rumors, avoid inflammatory messages online, and support initiatives that strengthen trust between communities.

Security officials stated that anyone involved in vandalism, violence, or activities intended to disturb public order would face legal action under Nepal's existing laws. They also appealed to residents to cooperate with law enforcement and report suspicious activities through official channels.

Community representatives welcomed the dialogue and expressed hope that regular meetings involving religious leaders, youth organizations, educators, and local administrations would help prevent future misunderstandings and reinforce social unity throughout the district.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to preserve Janakpur's long-standing reputation as a city where people from different communities live together peacefully. Participants said continued dialogue and responsible public engagement will remain important in maintaining harmony across the region.
